The History of the Multi-String Guitar: The development of the guitar with extra bass strings with demonstrations on an original 1830 Staufer guitar and an historical copy of a Scherzer 10 string guitar with works by Carulli and Mertz. Guest artist Dennis Cinelli

Grammy Award Winner, David Darling, composer, master improviser will lead a workshop on improvising skills for multi-string playing. Classical players will be able to improvise with David's direction.

Composers Panel compositions with all 10 strings Practical steps to writing original works for the ten-string.

 

 Every class will have hand outs for students written specifically for each class.

    4:15 – 5:30

What are the defining reasons and possibilities of the ten-string guitar Panel presentation of the basics of multi-string playing, tunings etc. for transitioning six string players and ten-string players.
